Alechinsky

Pierre Alechinsky is a Belgian painter and printmaker born in 1927. He is associated with the CoBrA group, an avant-garde art movement that advocated spontaneous expression. His work blends lyrical abstraction with Eastern influences, notably Asian calligraphy. Alechinsky uses a variety of techniques, and his works are recognized for their visual energy and marginal annotations. He is one of the major artists of contemporary Belgian art.
