Jasper Johns (born 1930) is an American painter and sculptor, recognized as a key figure in Pop Art and Neo-Dada. He is famous for his works reinterpreting everyday symbols such as the American flag and targets. His use of the encaustic technique (wax painting) and his ability to transform familiar objects into profound art have marked his work. Among his famous pieces are: Flag (1954–1955) and Target with Four Faces (1955).
