Andres Valencia (b. 2011) is a Mexican-born contemporary artist based in San Diego, California, known for his large, dramatic, and colorful figurative paintings, deeply influenced by George Condo, Picasso, and Cubism. He stands on a stepladder to create large-scale works with a mixture of oil sticks and oil and acrylic paint, seeking to create bold colors and highly imaginative fragmented facial compositions. Teachers involved in the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program at his California public school quickly recognized his extraordinary talent. Surrounded by artwork at home, Andrès Valencia is inspired by RETNA, Richard Hambleton, Raphael Mazzucco, Salvador Dalí, and other artists that his father began collecting about seven years ago.
Andres Valencia surprises the world by selling his paintings for several hundred thousand euros
