Andy Warhol was an American artist who was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement of the 1960s. He is famous for his works that explore the relationship between mass culture, consumerism, and celebrity. Warhol used mass reproduction techniques such as screen printing to create images of mundane objects or celebrities, often repeated in series, which gave his works a distinctive, industrial aesthetic. Among his best-known works are portraits of celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and boxes Campbell's soup. Warhol was also a central figure in the New York art scene, frequenting venues such as Studio 54 and collaborating with other artists, musicians and celebrities of his day. His work has profoundly influenced contemporary art and continues to be a source of inspiration for many artists today
