The title conflates Banksy and Jean-Michel Basquiat — the Brooklyn-born artist whose raw, text-laden, crown-bearing canvases made him the first Black artist to achieve global art world superstardom before his death at 27 in 1988 — into a compound identity that is simultaneously a homage, a self-portrait, and a statement about the relationship between street art, institutional recognition, and the commercial art world that both artists have navigated from opposite directions.
