Description: For Formation of Abstract Thoughts 3 is a monumental work by the renowned American artist RETNA (born 1979), celebrated for his unique visual language blending calligraphy, abstraction, street art, and ancestral influences. In this piece, RETNA partially steps away from his cryptic alphabet to explore intense, vibrant, and lyrical gestural abstraction.

This large-scale canvas is an explosion of color – purples, blues, golds, and blacks – applied with energy and spontaneity. Brushstrokes, layering, and dynamic scratches create an expressive movement reminiscent of action painting and abstract expressionism, while maintaining the spiritual intensity characteristic of the artist.

That same use of Lego blocks to explore identity and mass reproduction defines Untitled (White on Black) (2018), a pixelated portrait from a rare edition of 40 with provenance from Haines Gallery, San Francisco — available now at Lynart Gallery.
