Power (2026) is Shepard Fairey at his most graphically explosive — a large-format screenprint that fuses two of the most potent visual languages of the twentieth century into a single image of maximum impact. A hand grips a spray can redesigned as a grenade, its nozzle erupting in a burst of yellow rays and comic-book explosion clouds; from the blast, the word "POWER" emerges in crimson Pop Art lettering — partially overwritten in dripping black graffiti tag, the clean commercial typography of Lichtenstein's generation defaced by the street. The OBEY star stamp sits in the lower right, a quiet signature on a composition that is anything but quiet.

The work is a direct and deliberate collision between Pop Art and street art — Fairey citing and subverting the Ben-Day dot aesthetic, the explosion graphics, and the bold colour palette of 1960s commercial comics, then running a graffiti drip through the "E" of POWER as a reminder that this image was not made in a gallery but in a tradition that began on walls and trains and underpasses. The spray can-as-grenade is the central metaphor: creativity as detonation, the act of making as an act of force, art as a weapon deployed in the contest over public space and public meaning.

Printed on 80# cream Speckletone paper — Fairey's standard fine art print stock, prized for its warm tone and ink absorption — in a limited edition of 300, hand-signed and numbered by the artist. A strong and timely addition to Fairey's political print canon and an ideal companion to Ominous Ripple and Uplift Justice for collectors building a focused OBEY holdings.

FAQ

Is this an original Shepard Fairey print?

What is the edition size?
300 impressions. This example is numbered 136/300.

What is the central image?
