Executed in screenprint on acrylic mirror — a support of rare material sophistication, at once reflective and pictorial, collapsing the boundary between image and object, artwork and viewer — this work belongs to the most technically ambitious and aesthetically commanding dimension of Kyne's output. The mirror surface transforms the act of looking into something more reciprocal and charged: the figure meets the viewer, and the viewer enters the composition, drawn into a visual field of extraordinary formal intelligence. Signed and dated on label on the reverse, and measuring 180 × 113.5 cm, this is a work of genuinely monumental scale — a physically imposing, room-defining presence of exceptional visual and material impact that represents the artist's practice at its most assured and ambitious.
Coming directly from Gallery Target in Tokyo — one of the most respected and influential galleries in the Japanese contemporary art scene, and the institutional home most closely associated with Kyne's practice — this work carries a provenance of unimpeachable distinction, attesting to its impeccable authenticity and its place within the most rigorously documented chapter of the artist's career. The condition is good overall, with scuff marks in places on the verso and extremely minor chips along the upper edge of the verso — consistent with careful handling and storage, and in no way affecting the extraordinary visual presence of the work on its face.
