Description: James Jean captures Maze's aura with a translucent sculpture.

For Maze (Lucid), James reimagines one of his eternal muses. First depicted in a 2008 painting, Maze stands in a moment of quiet reflection. The figure rests her hands on a hoop surrounding a circular labyrinth, representing the human quest for freedom by following new paths.

Its restored translucency is achieved through a frosted resin cast. Refined for months to achieve the perfect levels of transparency and fidelity, the medium allows light to filter through the sculpture. The edition comes with a detached labyrinth and a staff, to be assembled upon arrival.

Project : When developing Maze - Lucid, James returned to his original reference, Edgar Degas's ballet dancers. During a life drawing session with a dancer, James redrew Maze's pose with a fresh perspective.
