Glass Blower: Girl(2026)

  • Artist: Andrew Scott
  • Medium: Print on paper with hand-blown glass bubble
  • Dimensions (framed): 33 × 44.5 cm
  • Edition: Timed Edition
  • Signature: Signed label on reverse
  • Note: each example unique by virtue of the hand-blown glass element

Glass Blower: Girl (2026) is the companion piece to Glass Blower: Boy — where the Boy stands still, contained, the Girl is all momentum. Leaning forward with her whole body, one foot lifted from the ground, arms wide, she blows with the full force of a child entirely committed to the act, and from her lips, a real hand-blown glass bubble swells outward from the print's surface into the viewer's space.

The figure is rendered in Andrew Scott's characteristic monochrome with a single red accent — matching her counterpart — against a pale, weathered ground with the quality of a found photograph. The hand-blown bubble, unique to each impression, catches and refracts light in a way the printed figure cannot, the permanent and the fragile occupying the same plane.

Together, Glass Blower: Boy and Girl form one of the most quietly extraordinary bodies of work in contemporary British printmaking, the Girl's lunging posture carrying a sense of joyful abandon.

That same physical fragility defines Burden (2026), a print on canvas with a deliberately broken frame carrying the work's emotional weight. A more fluid, gestural energy runs through Splash (2024), a hand-finished giclée capturing motion frozen mid-air — both available now at Lynart Gallery.

FAQ

Is this an original Andrew Scott work? Yes — an original mixed-media work combining print on paper with a hand-blown glass bubble, signed on a label affixed to the reverse.

How does this differ from Glass Blower: Boy? The composition, posture, and energy are entirely different — where the Boy is still and contained, the Girl leans into the act with her whole body, creating a larger bubble and a more dynamic image. The red t-shirt is the visual link between the two companion pieces.

Is each example identical? No — because the glass bubble is hand-blown individually, there will be subtle variations in size, curvature, and surface quality between pieces. Each example is both a limited edition print and a unique object.

Is the work framed? Yes — framed with glass, as shown.

Is the work signed? Yes — a signed label is affixed to the reverse.

Can the two works be acquired together? Yes — Glass Blower: Boy and Glass Blower: Girl are companion pieces and are available individually or as a pair. Please contact us to discuss acquiring both.

Do you ship internationally? Yes — worldwide, with specialist packaging suited to fragile mixed-media works, full insurance, and shipment tracking.

Drawn to this piece? Richard Prince's collection may move you in the same way.
