Glass Blower: Girl (2026) is the companion piece to Glass Blower: Boy — and where the Boy stands still, contained, the bubble held close to his face, the Girl is all momentum. Leaning forward with her whole body, one foot lifted from the ground, arms wide, she blows with the full force of a child entirely committed to the act — and from her lips, a real hand-blown glass bubble swells outward from the surface of the print into the viewer's space, large, luminous, and precarious.
The figure is rendered in Andrew Scott's characteristic monochrome with a single chromatic accent — the red t-shirt, the same red as her counterpart — against a pale, weathered ground that gives the composition the quality of a found photograph or a drawing retrieved from memory. The glass bubble, hand-blown individually for each impression, catches and refracts the light of whatever room it inhabits, alive in a way that the printed figure cannot be — the permanent and the fragile occupying the same plane, the represented breath made real.
Together, Glass Blower: Boy and Glass Blower: Girl form one of the most quietly extraordinary bodies of work in contemporary British printmaking — works that are simultaneously conceptually rigorous and immediately, viscerally moving. The Girl, in particular, with her lunging posture and the size of her bubble, carries a sense of joyful abandon that makes the work as much about confidence and freedom as about the technical conceit that underpins it.
Because each glass bubble is hand-blown individually, no two impressions are identical — subtle variations in size, curvature, and surface quality make each example both a limited edition print and a unique object. Framed with glass and presented with a signed label on the reverse.

Is this an original Andrew Scott work? Yes — an original mixed-media work combining print on paper with a hand-blown glass bubble, signed on a label affixed to the reverse.
How does this differ from Glass Blower: Boy? The composition, posture, and energy are entirely different — where the Boy is still and contained, the Girl leans into the act with her whole body, creating a larger bubble and a more dynamic image. The red t-shirt is the visual link between the two companion pieces.
