The Tree of Knowledge is an interactive digital sculpture that evolves in real-time, responding to global events and transitioning between three distinct states: signal, noise, and violence. Part of the prestigious Lingotto Collection, this work by Beeple questions the subjectivity of our individual realities and the ambiguous relationship between technology and nature.

VIOLENCE embodies the state of conflict. In this phase, a deliberate choice triggers a radical transformation of the tree, but with a defined limit: once a certain threshold is reached, the destruction becomes irreversible. Beeple thus illustrates an unrelenting reality - just as in our world, decisions that lead to violence have irreversible consequences. When no options remain, the Tree of Knowledge remains forever in flames, symbolizing the irreparable damage caused by escalating conflicts.

The printmakers at Make-Ready in London captured this tipping point, freezing the tree in its VIOLENCE state for an edition of UV pigment prints with a satin varnish finish. Each print powerfully conveys this reflection on the nature of destructive choices, questioning the fragility of our world in the face of thoughtless decisions.
