Description:

Hollow Mickey is one of the most compelling objects to emerge from Daniel Arsham's ongoing dialogue with cultural memory, nostalgia, and material transformation — a large-format resin sculpture produced through his Arshmm Studio in official collaboration with Disney. Mickey Mouse — the most universally recognised cartoon character in the history of popular culture — is here rendered mid-motion, cape billowing, caught in a moment of dynamic gesture, but stripped of all colour and surface finish: the figure is entirely grey, matte, monolithic, as if excavated from ash or cast from concrete. The effect is at once monumental and melancholic — an icon of joy made archaeological, frozen in time, preserved and eroded simultaneously.

The "Hollow" designation in the title carries Arsham's characteristic conceptual weight: the figure is structurally present but materially emptied of its original meaning, the colour and gloss that define Mickey's identity replaced by the grey uniformity of ruin. This is not destruction but transformation — the same operation Arsham performs on Pokémon figures, Air Jordan sneakers, and VHS cassettes in his Fictional Archaeology series: taking the objects of collective childhood memory and subjecting them to the passage of time, asking what remains when the surface is stripped away.

At 41 × 43 × 44 cm, Hollow Mickey is a major sculptural presence — large enough to dominate a shelf or plinth, commanding enough to anchor a room. Produced in an edition of 500 via Arshmm Studio, numbered by sticker label, and presented in its original Disney × Arshmm Studio grey box.
