Maze Lucid by James Jean is a translucent sculpture that captures the ethereal presence of Maze. Originally depicted in a 2008 painting, Maze is shown in a moment of quiet reflection, her hands resting on a hoop surrounding a circular maze, symbolizing humanity’s pursuit of freedom through new paths.

The frosted resin allows light to pass beautifully through the figure, achieving a perfect balance of transparency and fidelity after months of refinement. This edition comes with a detachable maze and acrylic rod, to be assembled upon arrival.

For this project, James Jean revisited his original reference, the ballet dancers of Edgar Degas. During a live drawing session with a dancer, he reinterpreted Maze’s pose with a fresh perspective, bringing the sculpture to life with renewed elegance and depth.
