Description:
Damien Hirst is recognized as one of the most provocative and influential figures in contemporary art. As a pioneer of the Young British Artists (YBA), he rose to prominence in the 1980s with works that were both shocking and conceptually rich. Widely regarded as Britain’s most notorious living artist, Hirst has created some of the most iconic works of recent decades, including diamond-encrusted human skulls and dead animals suspended in formaldehyde tanks.

In 2008, he organized the groundbreaking auction Beautiful Inside My Head Forever, which achieved a record £111 million ($198 million). Hirst continues to experiment across multiple artistic disciplines, including sculpture, prints, painting, and large-scale installations, constantly pushing the boundaries of contemporary practice. Among his most celebrated works are the Pill Cabinets, intricate arrangements of individually cast pills in metal, plaster, and resin. In 2017, Phillips New York presented The Void, 2000, the largest example of this series ever exhibited in the United States.
