Description: In Entablature IX, Roy Lichtenstein temporarily steps away from his iconic comic-strip figures to explore architectural abstraction. Inspired by the classical friezes of New York buildings, this work combines screenprint, lithograph, collage, and embossing to create a refined composition where ornament itself becomes subject.

This piece, both rigorous and ornamental, plays with historical references to Greco-Roman architecture while translating them into Lichtenstein’s own visual language: graphic forms, crisp lines, and repeated patterns. It is presented here as a rare and valuable artist’s proof (A.P.), published by the prestigious Tyler Graphics, Ltd.
