Damien Hirst stands out as the most marginal contemporary artist on the art market. As a pioneer of the Young British Artists (YBA), he rose to fame in the 1980s by creating shocking and conceptually rich works. Recognized as Britain's most notorious living artist, Hirst created works such as diamond-studded human skulls and dead animals submerged in glass cases of formaldehyde. He also curated a controversial exhibition, "Beautiful Inside My Head Forever", which sold at auction for £111 million ($198 million) in 2008. Hirst continues to explore various artistic mediums, including sculptures, prints, paintings and installations, constantly defying convention. Among his most famous works, the “Pill Cabinets” feature rows of intricate pills individually cast in metal, plaster and resin. In 2017, Phillips New York exhibited the largest piece from this series ever shown in the United States, titled "The Void, 2000."
